Brandy Cove Beach
What’s it like? To get to it, you’ll have to walk along the cliff path, but once there you’ll be rewarded with stunning views from a secluded beach. Dogs are not allowed on the beach from May 1 to September 30.
Best for: Walkers and adventurous sightseers

Broughton Bay Beach
What’s it like? More remote than most of the beaches in the area, with no family-friendly facilities.
Best for: Watersports. Dogs are allowed all year

What’s it like? The beach holds both a Blue Flag and Seaside award and is a popular spot for both families and watersport enthusiasts. A lifeguard is on patrol from May to September. Dogs are not allowed on the beach from May 1 to September 30

Crawley Beach
What’s it like? A small, secluded, sandy beach accessible via a footpath or through woods.

What’s it like? A beach that’s ideal for families. Dogs are allowed but there are access restrictions on some parts of the beach.

Langland Bay Beach

Llangennith Beach
What’s it like? A great, family-friendly beach that also welcomes dogs.

Mewslade Bay Beach
What’s it like? You’ll find great views from the beach which is nestled at the bottom of a small valley. There is no lifeguard but dogs are allowed all year.

Nicholaston Burrows
What’s it like? Isolated from the busier but nearby Oxwich Bay, the burrows offer sand, scenery, sand dunes and lots of space.

Oxwich Bay
What’s it like? A popular destination for families and watersport enthusiasts with lots of space for both. The lovely beach backs on to sand dunes. It can get very busy in the summer months.
Best for: Swimming and watersports
Parking: Yes

Pobbles Bay Beach
What’s it like? You can walk up to the top of the cliffs surrounding the beach for some great views of the coastline. The beach itself has no facilities but the by is popular. Dogs are allowed all year round.
Best for: Walkers, with or without dogs

Port Eynon Bay Beach
What’s it like? An award-winning sandy beach that has been given a Blue Flag and Seaside Award. Dogs are allowed but there are access restrictions on some parts of the beach.

Pwll Du Bay Beach
What’s it like? Access to the pebbly beach is via three footpaths so this is one for the more intrepid visitor who doesn’t mind walking on rough terrain.
Best for: Watersports. Dogs are allowed all year.

Rhossili, National Trust
What’s it like? A world-class beach that was voted Wales best beach and boasting three miles of sandy shoreline. You can see Gower’s best-known wreck, Helvetia, which was driven onto the beach in a gale in 1887. There’s also a National Trust shop selling gifts and treats and a Visitor Centre with exhibitions.
Best for: Watersports – especially surfing, building sandcastles, and taking in the stunning views. You may even spot a dolphin or seal. It’s also part of the Gower Coast Path and is great for walkers. Dogs are allowed all year round.
Parking? Yes. It’s free to National Trust members, otherwise charges apply. The car park is patrolled.

Rotherslade Bay Beach
What’s it like? This small and sandy stretch of beach has been awarded both Blue Flag and Seaside Awards. Dogs are not allowed May-September.
Best for: A spot of sunbathing or a picnic. There is no lifeguard on the beach.
Parking? No, but it is close to Langland Bay, where parking is available
Food? Yes, around 100m away

Three Cliffs Bay Beach
What’s it like? A picturesque beach with sandy dunes and salt marshes and the three limestone cliffs that gives it its name. Swimming and watersports are not recommended because of the strong currents and tides in the area, but there are lifeguards in the Easter and summer holidays and summer weekends.
Best for : Having a picnic and taking in the magnificent views. Also great for dog walking as they are allowed on the beach all year

Food? No. The nearest food outlets are in Pennard or Parkmill
Toilets? Yes, at the nearby Holiday Park
Tor Bay Beach
What’s it like? To get to Tor Bay you’ll need to walk along a clifftop path, but once there, you’ll find a sandy, sheltered beach. There is no lifeguard service.
Best for: Taking in the scenery or exploring the headland
Parking? Yes, around 400m away

Whiteford Sands
What’s it like? A beach of around two miles, at the edge of the Loughor Estuary. There’s an old cast-iron lighthouse at the end of Whiteford Point.
